Claudius est devenu roi du Danemark après avoir assassiné son frère et épousé sa veuve. Hamlet, fils du défunt, aime la belle Ophélie, fille du chambellan. Il reçoit la visite du spectre de son père qui lui ordonne de le venger. Simulant la folie, il congédie Ophélie qui perd la raison et se noie. Hamlet tue Claudius et monte sur le trône, inconsolable d’avoir perdu celle qu’il aime.
Du 26 février au 7 mars, Nicolas Testé reprend le rôle de Claudius dans le Hamlet d’Ambroise Thomas à l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. Guillaume Tourniaire dirige la production de Cyril Teste, avec également Lionel Lhote, Jodie Devos, Béatrice Uria-Monzon et Pierre Derhet.
Oroveso à Barcelone

Les 18, 21, 24, 27 et 30 juillet, Nicolas Testé chante Oroveso dans la production d’Àlex Ollé de Norma de Bellini au Gran Teatre del Liceu. Domingo Hindoyan dirige depuis la fosse, avec Riccardo Massi en Pollione, Marina Rebeka en Norma, Varduhi Abrahamyan en Adalgisa, Núria Vilà en Clotilde et Néstor Losán en Flavio.
Sarastro au Gran Teatre del Liceu

Le 27 juin au Gran Teatre del Liceu, Nicolas Testé chantera le rôle de Sarastro dans Die Zauberflöte à la place de Stephen Milling, qui a été diagnostiqué positif au COVID-19.
La basse se joindra à une distribution comprenant Julien Behr, Matthias Goerne, Joan Martín-Royo, Sara Blanch et Serena Sáenz. Paolo Bortolameolli dirige la production légendaire de Sir David McVicar.

As Colline, Nicolas Testé sang a moving farewell to his treasured overcoat. His bass voice is leaner and cleaner than many, and all the more effective for it.

Cette saison, le Met célèbre le 40e anniversaire de la célèbre mise en scène de Franco Zeffirelli de La Bohème de Puccini. Nicolas Testé revient au Met et dans le rôle de Colline les 16, 20, 24 et 27 mai, avec Eleonora Buratto dans le rôle de la couturière malheureuse Mimì, aux côtés des ténors Matthew Polenzani, Stephen Costello et Russell Thomas qui interprètent en alternance son amant, le poète Rodolfo. La soprano Aleksandra Kurzak et le baryton Quinn Kelsey forment le couple Musetta-Marcello, sous la direction d’Eun Sun Kim.

Mr. Testé then gave us the Claudius” Act III aria from Thomas” Hamlet “Je t’implore, ô mon frère” which fell on fresh ears to say the least. His bass is bright and easy at the top... Mr. Testé opened the second half with the substitution of Gremin’s last act aria from Eugene Onegin... This was a beautifully intimate performance that brought forward all of the autumnal joy inherent in that piece. He also landed that tricky finale with no trouble.
