Hosted by General Manager\u00a0Peter Gelb\u00a0in New York City and Music Director\u00a0Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin\u00a0in Montreal, the program will be streamed for free on the Met\u2019s website.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the Met is famous for its high-definition transmissions into cinemas, this will be a great artistic but low-tech operation,\u201d said Mr. Gelb, noting that the performances will be relayed in real time from the singers\u2019 laptops and transmitted via Skype in what will nonetheless be a complicated exercise in logistics and time zones. \u201cWe will be providing operatic uplift to our audiences, as well as for our singers, who are eager to connect with their fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Mr. Gelb will be producing the event from his apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Mr. N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin\u00a0will be co-hosting from his apartment in Montreal.\u00a0Mr. N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin\u00a0will also be participating in the gala as a pianist.<\/p>\n<p>The gala will start at 1pm EDT, the regularly scheduled time for the Met\u2019s Saturday matinee performances, and will be available via the Met\u2019s website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.metopera.org\/season\/at-home-gala\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">metopera.org<\/a>.\u00a0After the live showing, the program will continue to be available on demand on the Met website until 6:30pm EDT the following day.
