A return to The Met in ‘Les Pêcheurs de Perles’

Next January, Nicolas Testé returns to The Metropolitan Opera as Nourabad in their first production of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles in 100 years. This follows Mr. Testé’s “beautifully depicted” portrayal of Colline in La bohème last season.

He is joined by a spectacular cast in this new offering at The Met, including his wife, soprano Diana Damrau as Leila, Matthew Polenzani as Nadir, and Mariusz Kwiecien as Zurga, with Gianandrea Noseda leading the Met Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Performances take place on January 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 23, 27 & 30, as well as a special New Year’s Eve gala presentation on December 31. There will also be a Live in HD broadcast to theaters worldwide on January 16.

Bel Canto European Tour

Nicolas Testé joins his wife, soprano Diana Damrau, on tour across Europe featuring their “In Love with Bel Canto” program, in concert with renowned orchestras at some of the continent’s most revered venues. Works featured include arias, overtures, and orchestral excerpts from operas of the Bel Canto era and tradition, including Verdi’s La traviata and Luisa Miller, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Norma.

Mr. Testé and Ms. Damrau begin their tour on April 10 at the Auditorium Rainier III with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo led by Jacques Lacombe, and continue on April 13 at Oper Frankfurt with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and Maestro David Giménez. They are featured as part of the Wiener Konzerthaus Great Voices series on April 15, with the Symphonieorchester der Volksoper Wien led by Mr. Giménez, and travel to Germany on April 17 for a concert at the Herkulessaal with the Münchner Symphoniker and Giménez. Nicolas and Diana reunite this summer for a Bel Canto concert at Salerno’s Teatro Giuseppe Verdi on May 9, a performance in Nürnberg on June 10, a Gala Concert on June 14 at the Landestheater Linz, and a “Pearls of Belcanto” concert on July 8 in Ulm, at the Klosterhof Wiblingen.
