Bel Canto Concerts in Europe and Asia

Nicolas Testé and his wife, soprano Diana Damrau, present two Bel Canto Gala Concerts this month. The first takes place at Budapest’s Béla Bartók National Concert Hall on May 14, with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra led by Gianluca Martinenghi. The duo then travels to Oman for a concert on May 18 at the Royal Opera House Muscat, with conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson and the Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo. The programme for these concerts includes much loved works by Rossini, Gounod, Massenet, Wagner, Verdi, and more.

‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ at the Deutsche Oper Berlin

Nicolas Testé sings the role of Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, this spring at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Mr. Testé previously performed the role to great acclaim at San Francisco Opera, where he “. . . made an indelible company debut, creating a Raimondo of generous vocal resources and considerable timbral allure.” (Opera News)

The performance in Berlin take place May 1 & 4, and also feature Hulkar Sabirova in the title role, with Ismael Jordi as Edgardo and Dalibor Jenis sings Enrico. Maestro Daniel Cohen conducts the Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin for these performances.

‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ on tour with the Teatro Regio di Torino

Nicolas Testé sings Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor this month, on tour throughout Europe with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Torino, led by Gianandrea Noseda. They perform on May 22 at the Teatro Regio di Torino, May 27 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and on May 29 at the Philharmonie Essen. Diana Damrau sings the title role, Pierro Pretti is Edgardo, and Gabriele Viviani is Enrico for these performances; the Paris and Essen dates are now sold-out, with extremely limited availability in Torino.

Of his San Francisco Opera house debut in the role, Georgia Rowe of Opera News said: ““Bass-baritone Nicolas Testé made an indelible company debut, creating a Raimondo of generous vocal resources and considerable timbral allure.”
