Hamlet in Belgium

Claudius has become king of Denmark after murdering his brother and marrying his widow. Hamlet, son of the deceased, loves the beautiful Ophelia, daughter of the chamberlain. He is visited by his father’s ghost who orders him to avenge him. Simulating madness, he dismisses Ophelia who loses her mind and drowns. Hamlet kills Claudius and ascends the throne, inconsolable at having lost the one he loves.

From February 26 until March 7, Nicolas Testé will return to the role of Claudius in Ambroise Thomas’ Hamlet at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. Guillaume Tourniaire conducts Cyril Teste’s production, also featuring Lionel Lhote, Jodie Devos, Béatrice Uria-Monzon, and Pierre Derhet.

Kings & Queens of Opera Asian tour

This May, Nicolas Testé returns to Asia with the Kings & Queens of Opera program, an enthralling evening of bel canto and verismo music, joined by Diana Damrau and conductor Pavel Baleff.

They will be accompanied by local orchestras in each city, performing with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at Esplanade Concert Hall, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra at Taipei National Concert Hall, the KBS Symphony Orchestra at Lotte Concert Hall and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra at Suntory Hall.

At the Hong Kong Cultural Centre he will sing a recital titled All for Love, alongside Diana Damrau and pianist Mathieu Pordoy, featuring a program of Lieder, French song, operetta, and opera arias and duets. For a full list of dates and locations, see the list below:
