This spring, Nicolas Testé sings the role of Claudius in Thomas’ darkly dramatic Hamlet at the Opéra Grand Avignon. Performances take place May 3 & 6, with a cast that includes Jean-François Lapointe in the title role, Patrizia Ciofi as the tragic Ophélie, and Géraldine Chauvet as Claudius’ scheming wife, Gertrude. Jean-Yves Ossonce leads the Regional Orchestra of Avignon-Provence and the Opéra Grand Avignon Choir, in this Vincent Boussard-directed production.

‘Il Trovatore’ at Chorégies d’Orange

This summer, Nicolas Testé sings the role of Ferrando in Verdi’s thrilling Il Trovatore at Chorégies d’Orange. Mr. Testé previously performed the role to great acclaim in Marseille, where his “excellent” Ferrando was a highlight of the production. He is joined by a spectacular cast in Orange, including Roberto Alagna as Manrico, Hui He as Leonora, Marie-Nicole Lemieux as Azucena, and George Petean as Il Conte de Luna. Bertrand de Billy leads the Orchestre National de France in this Charles Roubaud-directed staging, which takes place August 1 & 4.
